America has a taste for sin.
If the Bible is true and accurate (I believe it is), it defines sin. Anything that is contrary to the laws of God as outlined therein is sin. Any act of rebellion or disobedience to God is sin.
A secular definition of sin reads like this, “an immoral act considered to be a transgression against divine law.”
What we become will not be determined by who did what to whom, and when. It will be decided by what we do from this day forward.
Will we seek the forgiveness and love of God? Will we turn from our wicked ways? Will we continue to call evil good and good evil?
If God is the same yesterday, today and forever (He is), then we should consider the words He spoke to His people in the book of Isaiah, “ Ah sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evildoers, children that are corrupters: they have forsaken the Lord, they have provoked the Holy One of Israel unto anger, they are gone away backward.”
Later in the same chapter God made a frightening declaration, “when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you: yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear”.
After those strong words, God gave His people the offer of redemption if they would change their ways, “Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil”.
As with America today, the Israelites had a clear choice, “If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land: But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword”. Our decisions and actions will determine who be become and whether we prosper or fail.
God, help us choose wisely.
