Maybe.
Perhaps we should reflect on when America was great, and what made her great.
In 1782, the United States Congress gave an endorsement to help print, circulate and sell the Holy Bible.
Following the inauguration of George Washington as the first President, he and the Congress marched in a processional to St. Paul’s Church for a prayer service. The Congress had arranged the schedule, which included the processional and service. I have been privileged to place my hand on the pew/bench where Washington sat in services at St. Paul’s Church. America will be great again when her leaders behave morally and openly encourage others to do the same.
Prior to the 1790s, the New England Primer was the foundational textbook for public education. It used Bible verses and Scriptural principles to teach American children the alphabet, among other things, while training them in good moral behavior. America will be great again when we teach our children the Bible, and train them in sound morals.
One of our Founding Fathers John Adams understood the importance of morality, “It is religion and morality alone which can establish the principles upon which freedom can securely stand. The only foundation of a free constitution is pure virtue.” And this, “We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. . . . Our constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.” America will be great again when her people return to the God of our Founding Fathers.
Another consideration is the issue of the right to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. None of these God given rights are enjoyed when the first (Life) is taken. Mother Theresa spoke of the denigration abortion has caused to America, “America needs no words from me to see how your decision in Roe v. Wade has deformed a great nation. The so-called right to abortion has pitted mothers against their children and women against men. It has shown violence and discord at the heart of the most intimate human relationships. It has aggravated the derogation of the father’s role in an increasingly fatherless society. It has portrayed the greatest of gifts ~ a child ~ as a competitor, an intrusion, and an inconvenience. It has nominally accorded mothers unfettered dominion over the independent lives of their physically dependent sons and daughters. And in granting this unconscionable power, it has exposed many women to unjust and selfish demands from their husbands or other sexual partners. Human rights are not a privilege conferred by government. They are every human being’s entitlement by virtue of his humanity. The right to life does not depend, and must not be declared to be contingent, on the pleasure of anyone else, not even a parent or a sovereign.” America will be great again when the life of every human is respected and protected, from conception to natural death.
America may recapture economic success, and even become a larger force in the world economy. Would this be greatness? Jesus had something to say about economics as well, “For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?” America will be great again when she rediscovers her moral compass.
In his proclamation of a national day of prayer and thanksgiving in 1789, George Washington said, “.. it is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits, and humbly to implore His protection and favor;” That is a prescription to make America great again.
So, can America ever be “great again”?
Yes, but not without the blessing of Almighty God.

I am a firm believer in the Sanctity of life. Life begins at conception. Mother Teresa hit the nail on the head when she said how abortion has affected our society.
The only way to bring morality back to this country is to turn our thoughts and way of living back to God. That includes stopping abortion,and making abortion an illegal act the same as murder.
I believe you’re right. And based on what I’ve seen in the past year, it seems clearer than ever that the overwhelming majority of Americans would rather live by their own principles than by God’s principles. So I can’t even go “maybe,” but rather “extremely doubtful.”
