Mayors of sanctuary cities have drawn a line in the sand.
Chicago’s Rahm Emanuel and about 20 other Mayors have put their cities at further risk by affirming their intention to continue protecting undocumented (illegal) aliens. Refusal to cooperate with Federal officials to enforce immigration policy might be more problematic than these Mayors would hope.
San Francisco and Chicago each receive a Billion dollars each year from the Federal government. You can use your imagination to see where this battle is going, and how difficult it might be for these cities and others depending on Federal dollars to meet their budget needs.
Chicago, the murder capital of America, already has more than enough problems. Under the mismanagement of Rahm Emanuel and leftist policies, Chicago is plunging headlong into a battle they won’t/can’t win.
The President elect isn’t likely to just look the other way. He can’t. His tough stand on illegal immigration is largely responsible for his election as President. Securing the border and enforcing the law is a cornerstone of his agenda. These Mayors are not big enough or tough enough to win a battle with the new President on this issue.
Further, it isn’t healthy for America to accept the concept of sanctuary cities. Secure borders and LEGAL immigration are essential for national security and economic stability. Beyond the $100 plus Billion dollar annual cost to taxpayers, illegals continue to contribute to crime and terrorism.
Battle lines have been drawn. I would not want to place a bet on these leftist Mayors. The American people have lost their patience with the policies and politicians who have taken the country into the abyss. Donald Trump doesn’t strike me as the kind of leader who will ignore this serious problem.
Gentlemen, choose your weapons.
