This morning the temperature is a whopping 2 degrees.
I’m pretty thankful for a warm, comfortable home.
This cold morning takes me back in time a few years ago when I participated in the “Polar Plunge” for charity. A square hole was cut in the ice on the Missouri River. Emergency teams were available in case something went wrong. When my turn came, I dove in to the icy water. It didn’t really affect me until I crawled our of the water. At that point, it completely took my breath away. If you haven’t ever taken the “plunge”, you can’t comprehend the sensations related to this event. I can only say, I will never do it again.
Beyond being safe and warm, I am thankful for so many things.
As I review my many blessings in my mind, I am most thankful that I have been given the opportunity to know Christ. Those who do not know the Savior can’t understand what they are missing, any more than someone who hasn’t taken the “Polar Plunge” can know what it feels like.
Atheists are busy telling people that skipping church will somehow “Make Christmas Great Again”. I am thankful I can spend Christmas celebrating Christ rather than denying Him. My prayers are with those who spend Christmas without a personal relationship with the one for whom the season exists. Jesus said, ” I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” I am thankful I enjoy the abundant life Jesus was talking about!
May you find the love of Christ this Christmas!
