Are they trying to “buy” the new President?
If they were, it didn’t work.
The donation, according to a report in USA Today, was pledged PRIOR to the Trump twitter about cancelling the Boeing contract. At first look, it would appear that Trump doesn’t give preference to those who contribute politically. If so, that would be revolutionary.
While that may provide some level of comfort that things could change, the inaugural events are likely to exceed even the Obama inaugural spending record of $53 Million dollars. Estimates suggest the Trump inauguration could be a near $100 Million event.
I find myself wishing that the inauguration would be in a room with a small contingent of family, friends and dignitaries, televised to the nation. Then the $100 Million dollars could be donated to charities. That isn’t likely to happen.
It is nice to know that Boeing doesn’t have the President elect in their pocket.
