Trees, decorations and lots of gifts…

… it’s all wonderful, but does it miss the point?

Probably.

All of the celebration dwarfs the remembrance and reverence for the birth of the Christ child, Jesus.

He was born of a virgin, send to redeem us and save us from our sins.  His birth ushered in a new opportunity to connect with the one and only Almighty God.

Despite being rejected, reviled and mocked, Jesus willingly gave His life so you and I would not be accountable for our sins.  His birth is worthy of celebration.  Unfortunately, all the celebration diverts our attention from the Savior to Santa Claus and the whole “All I want for Christmas” routine.

Even so, Jesus still loves you and me.  God sent His only begotten Son to die for us, knowing that many would deny Him.  Jesus left us another precious gift when He left this earth.  He sent the Holy Spirit.

Today, I celebrate the God who created me, Jesus who was born to save me from my sin and the Holy Spirit who resides within me.
