Acts of terrorism are a regular occurrence.
A recent video shows a very young child being forced to execute a prisoner. These depraved people have no level of vile behavior to which they will not sink.
To date, nothing has ended what appears to be our new reality. Nothing has stopped the shootings, bombings and acts of violence. World leaders have used a variety of policies. Compromise, negotiation, co-operation, condemnation, assassination, retaliation and even extermination have not ended the acts of terror.
President Obama didn’t understand the nature of the problem, calling Islamic terrorists “the JV team”. That is assuming he really underestimated them, rather than consciously choosing an unsuccessful resistance. Now, the next President promises to “win the war on terrorism”. That would be wonderful, but will it happen? That depends on your definition of “winning”.
If winning the war on terrorism means ending acts of terror, it might be an unrealistic expectation. This is a beast that is similar in origin to racism. Both have a foundation of hate. Neither is a war that can be “won”. Hate is not an enemy that can be eliminated with a bullet. “War” can’t kill enough terrorists to eliminate the hatred. When one terrorist is killed or incarcerated, others will take their place. While it would be foolish not to resist these wicked people, the suggestion that we can end their reign of terror is not realistic.
Only one thing will “win” the war on terrorism. That is the 2nd coming of the Prince of peace. When Christ returns, He will usher in a new government where no terrorism will exist. Jesus Christ is the only one who can “win” the war on terror. In the meantime, we have been given instructions AND weapons to fight this battle.
“the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;” 2 Corinthians 10:4
While I believe we must do everything we can (including armed resistance) to engage this enemy, the ultimate victory will only take place on the day our Lord returns.
Come quickly, Lord Jesus.
