Zero tolerance.
What would society look like without drugs? For purposes of this discussion, I am including alcohol as a drug. I am not talking about pharmaceuticals. properly prescribed and properly used.
America has a serious drug problem. The percentage of criminal cases jamming the court system which have a direct connection to drug use is in the high 90 percentile. If every case involving drugs in some way could be eliminated the courts would adjourn early every day.
Legalizing recreational marijuana is another step in the wrong direction.
The cost to America is staggering. It would easily be in the Trillions. The financial cost of incarceration and social programs would be difficult to total. The destruction of lives, relationships and families has a generational impact that transcends finances. Drug use is destroying the very foundations of our society. No effective solution to this plague has been able to change our nation’s trajectory.
So, what is the genesis of this problem. Drug abuse is a form of spiritual Novocain. People need a connection with God to be complete. Those who reject that connection or run from it need something to fill the void. That describes much of our society today… running from or rejecting God. It isn’t any wonder so many have turned to drugs to fill the emptiness.
