In many ways, Bonnie is typical of women in a crisis pregnancy.
She was in a lot of emotional pain and turmoil. Bonnie was a victim of rape earlier in her life.
Now, Bonnie has a 2 year old son from a previous relationship and was living with her current boyfriend. When the boyfriend found out she was pregnant, he kicked Bonnie and her son out of his house. She found temporary refuge with a family member, but would soon be out on the streets.
Bonnie did not want to be pregnant. She was torn about what she should do. Abortion was an option she was seriously considering. In short, her life was a mess. There was no question that she was very vulnerable.
With nowhere else to turn, Bonnie decided to go to the Pregnancy Help Center. She was offered a free ultra sound to help determine how far along she was in this pregnancy. When she saw the images of her baby on ultrasound, it was as though the light was turned on. Through her tears, she saw her baby for the first time. Some tears were tears of joy. Some tears were tears of confusion and deep emotional pain.
After spending some time with one of the client advocates, Bonnie still had some internal questions to resolve. She called the Pregnancy Help Center days later to say she had decided to carry her baby to term.
She has made the decision to give her baby the gift of life. Bonnie is considering adoption as a possible alternative to parenting.
