Am I the only one who is weary of the “shout down”?
Leftists have organized a national “protest”, in a futile attempt to win the arguments they lost in the last election. The general theme is to shout down the opposition or simply shut down events featuring anyone with whom they disagree.
The new, angry “organized” political protests are being compared to the early Tea Party rallies.
That couldn’t be farther from the truth. I recall a Tea Party meeting I led in Rapid City that was typical of Tea Party events. There was a large crowd for the rally, which was held in a city park to accommodate the attendance. My recollection is that there were 1,000 to 2,000 people there. Elected officials from BOTH parties were invited speakers, even though some didn’t attend. People were allowed to step to the microphone to ask questions. The questions were not pre-screened. Those asking questions were not pre-screened. There was a time limit for each questioner, and a total limit of time for questions. EVERYONE was respectful and well behaved.
No one was shouted down. It was a productive and successful event.
So why can’t the Leftists follow this model for a healthy discussion of issues? It is pretty simple. Their policies have failed and their candidates have been rejected. All they have left is screaming and disrupting. Well, not ALL… They are being joined by a coven of witches who are attempting to cast spells on the new President. They do not know where to turn or what to do. They have lost the argument and have nothing of substance and reason to offer.
They should calm down, collect their thoughts and attempt to make reasonable arguments. Maybe they should even take a little time to LISTEN.
In conclusion, let me offer a respectful “shout-out” to my Leftist friends.
