When the phone rang…
… the receptionist at the Pregnancy Help Center heard the voice of Cecillia’s Step Father. He was calling to schedule an appointment for her. After speaking briefly with him, the counselor asked to speak with his Step Daughter. An appointment was scheduled.
When Cecillia came in for her appointment, her Step Father was with her. Alarm bells of possible sexual abuse were sounding. She was going to be sixteen years old in about two months. Cecillia said she had been with “many” sexual partners, but did not give any indication of sexual abuse.
She stated to the nurse that she was leaning toward having an abortion.
Her Step Father confirmed that if Cecillia was less than 9 weeks pregnant, she would use the abortion pill to end the pregnancy. Otherwise she would carry to term. He was given information about what a woman goes through with an abortion.
The ultrasound revealed that the baby was just over 6 weeks. Cecillia and her Step Father were provided with all the information available through the Pregnancy Help Center so they could make an informed decision. They agreed to schedule appointment for another ultra sound so they could see the heartbeat of the baby.
This story has a happy ending. Cecillia, along with her family, made the decision to carry her baby to term and place it in an adoptive home.
She had a successful pregnancy and delivery. A loving family now has a new baby boy!
