Conservative South Dakota?

“This governor with the approval of the last two legislative sessions, has raised taxes $335 million”, State Representative Tim Goodwin.

You can do the math, but my calculator tells me that a tax increase of $335 Million dollars per year quickly adds up to more than a BILLION dollars every three years.  As if that isn’t enough, Rep. Goodwin reports that there are rumbles about an even further increase in sales tax, or (horrors) even an income tax.

Rep. Goodwin assured his audience that as long as he is in the Legislature and still breathing, there will be no income tax in South Dakota.  Thank you Rep. Goodwin!  Unfortunately, that may not reflect the sentiment of everyone in the State Legislature… or the Governor’s office.

South Dakota will soon be electing another Governor.  Wouldn’t it be nice to elect someone who would REDUCE taxes and decrease the size and cost of State Government?

Don’t hold your breath.
