Area 5 candidate Toni (Tonchi) Weaver
Once in a while, the community is fortunate enough to have an honorable, genuine and well-balanced citizen willing to serve in an important position. Being a Rapid City School Board member is such a position. Tonchi Weaver is such a person.
“My roots in the Hills are deep. I was born in Deadwood in 1954 and grew up in the beautiful Black Hills. I married my high school sweetheart, Joel Weaver in 1974 and together we raised two terrific daughters. They are both married and live in the Rapid City area, which means we are very close to our five precious grandchildren. Their future is very important to me.
Much has changed since my grandparents came here more than a century ago, but one thing remains the same – every generation wants a better life and future for their children and grandchildren. I want all children to blossom, thrive and succeed. I believe that a quality education is affordable, and it is the most important building block for a successful and fulfilling life. Students in Rapid City deserve no less, and that is what we should strive to give them.
Schools are important because children are important. Deterrence is the best insurance, so education should be our first line of defense, not our last. If children see school as an open door to a better future, they will stay in their seats and off the streets. Let’s partner with parents to make learning a lifestyle. To do this, we must give teachers the freedom to teach, so children will have the freedom to learn, to dream and to reach – for the stars and beyond. That’s why I want to serve on the school board and why I am asking voters to support me on June 6th.”
Over the years, I have had the privilege to watch and serve with many dedicated people. I have been supportive of some of them. None have been more deserving of support than Tonchi Weaver. She has worked tirelessly behind the scenes to defend and protect the liberty and principles that have truly made our state and nation great. She will be one of the most significant School Board Members to ever grace the office in Rapid City. I don’t say that lightly.
Please contribute to her campaign and vote for her on June 6th.
