Each year about this time…
… a truck arrives at the ranch with hives of bees.
Our local beekeeper starts by dropping off a few hives. As the season progresses, there are generally more and more hives as the bees go to work.
I have always loved having them around. They make their contribution by pollinating the fruit and berry bushes in our extensive shelterbelt. While they do their business, they never bother us or our livestock.
At the end of the season, the beekeeper stops by with several boxes filled with jars of fresh honey. It’s our payment for letting him place his bees on our ranch. It’s just one of those win-win situations.
We think it’s a sweet deal!
