First session:

COLUMBUS, CONQUISTADORS, AND AMERICAN WARRIORS: CAN THEY LEARN FROM EACH OTHER?

Description:  Columbus and the Conquistadors brought Christianity and the benefits of Christian civilization to the western hemisphere.  But the Native Americans were the true conservatives: They wanted the Government to keep its promises, stay off their land, and leave them alone.  But what was God’s plan — the Europeanization of the natives, or the Americanization of the white man?  Colonel Eidsmoe believes God never intended the early settlers to “go native,” but neither did He intend America to be just an extension of Europe.  Rather, God’s plan was that America would be a new Christian culture that would include contributions from both.

Second session:

A CHRISTIAN RESPONSE TO ISLAM AND THE CRUSADES

Do Christians and Muslims worship the same God? Were the Crusades simply unprovoked attacks by Western barbarian Christian fanatics upon peaceful Muslims?  Should Americans be worried about Sharia law?

Colonel Eidsmoe will explain the basic tenets and pillars of Islam, compare Christian and Muslim doctrine, and explain the history of Muslim Jihad that led to the Crusades.

Looks like a great presentation, Gordie. Tell me…we have bills and Initiated Measures now that have to pass a “fiscal note” in order to be entertained as a law change. Why don’t we have a “Constitutional note” attached to every bill in question? Granted it would have to be a deciding entity with all 3 pillars of government giving input…but could this be done?

That’s a very interesting thought… The challenge might be that even then opinions would probably disagree. If one declared it Constitutional despite being wrong it could help a bill pass… and vise versa. I think of how wrong the court was to declare that a woman has the “right” to kill her unborn child..
