Base Freedom and Equality on Land Mass, Not Head Count

The presidential election of November 2016 reminded us that the greater land mass of the United States of America is overwhelmingly on the political right.  Most counties and rural areas went for Trump, even in liberal strongholds like the Northeast.

Equality need not be based on misleading head counts, as I argued right after the election.  Urban populations tend to be gerrymandered and contrived, especially appealing to those who surrender their opinions and cultural tastes to the few media monopolies available.

If a town is big enough to have one newspaper and a television station or two, chances are that selection of programming and staffing is controlled by invisible and very liberal corporate headquarters elsewhere.  It’s a top-down puppet-mastering world that few suspect.  Nor is it surprising that liberals do well in local elections.
