Vickie’s life was in turmoil.
She, her husband and their two children were living with his parents. They had moved in with them nearly a year ago when he got fired for drinking on his job. He just couldn’t seem to rebound and his drinking had become worse. Now, she was pretty sure she was pregnant again.
Even though her mother-in-law had threatened to kick them out if she got pregnant again, it seemed like the least of her worries to Vickie. She was burdened from childhood sexual abuse and a rape when she was a teenager. Her job as a waitress was barely enough to provide her basic family needs. It was also very taxing on her, physically. Her relationship with her mother-in-law was very stressful. All in all, she was struggling just to get through each day.
Vickie’s appointment at the Pregnancy Help Center confirmed that she was pregnant. She also made a later appointment for an ultrasound. The staff encouraged her and provided information on other resources that could help her family. She left knowing she had a place to turn for help, love and encouragement through what would be a challenging pregnancy.
