Solving the health care problem isn’t that difficult.
To begin, let’s agree that the Democrat plan (Obamacare) is a disaster. Then, let’s agree that the Republican approach isn’t much better.
I don’t have all the answers (obviously), but the solution could be much easier to find if Congress would follow some simple guidelines:
-
Repeal Obamacare. Period.
-
Tackle the challenges with one, simple bill at a time.
-
STOP increases in spending and expansion of entitlements.
-
Use free market solutions, not government mandates.
-
Establish guidelines under which those with genuine need can be cared for.
-
End all benefits for illegal immigrants.
-
Eliminate all subsidies to insurance companies.
Admittedly, it’s a simplistic suggestion and only a start.
Congress needs to tackle health care one issue, one step, one bill at a time (on health care and every other issue). Democrats should be offered a seat at the table. Some of them might set aside their obstructionist agenda and bring some good ideas. If they join the process, their input should receive reasonable consideration. If they won’t participate constructively, Republicans should do the work and solve the problems. They have the votes. It’s probably now or never.
Hopefully, it’s now.

Eliminating subsidies for insurance companies will not be popular with the lobbyists who write the health care legislation. Good idea, but not gonna happen.
