So much to do… So little time…
The schedule for US House members for September reveals twelve days on the job.
To be sure, there is more to being a Member of Congress than days in session, but… really? Is it reasonable to take care of the pressing business of our nation in twelve days?
The US Senate schedule is undoubtedly the same or very similar, but my searching has failed to find their schedule for September. I am sure they have one, but could it be they don’t want it to be too easily found by the public?.
A bit of quick research indicates that the Senate and House have something like 15,000 paid staffers. Maybe they can keep them on the job during the remainder of the month. It would be nice to think SOMEONE is working to solve our monumental problems.
I don’t want to be hyper-critical, but wouldn’t it be a good idea for Congress to go to work and stay there until they have effectively dealt with the issues of the day? If I had an employee who only showed up to work twelve days in September, they would be looking for a new job in October.
We have some desperate needs in our country. But, not to worry….
Congress will work 15 days next month.
