No, not everywhere…

… But I am fortunate to live a life that is devoid of racism.  I know it isn’t everywhere, but I believe it could be.  Color of skin is no different than color of hair in my world.  Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. would have seen this as the world he spoke of, where men and women are judged by the “content of their character”.

The foundation for this life of equality and fellowship of humanity is the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  His prescription was simple, “Love your neighbor as yourself”.  Genuine love and caring removes racial tensions and divisions.  They simply disappear.

Love finds a reason to love.  Hate finds a reason to hate.  It is a matter of good and evil.

The church I attend is a multi-cultural church.  The love of Christ permeates services and relationships of the members.  Visitors see it and feel it too.  It’s not a perfect church, but it is a loving church.  People are  human enough to disagree and have relationship struggles, but it is because of personalities, not race.  You would be welcome, if you want to see for yourself… Faith Temple Church in Rapid City.

People from a particular culture will naturally gravitate to people of that culture.  That doesn’t make them racist.  What is strikingly different in my world is that this cultural diversity is celebrated, not segregated.

The thugs who riot, plunder, destroy property and kill are children of hate.  Their Father is the author of hate, the Devil himself.  There aren’t enough policemen to stop them.  There aren’t enough jails to hold them.  These purveyors of evil are inspired and possessed with hatred.  Their actions promote the very division and prejudice they claim to be protesting.  It isn’t the way out.  It’s the way further in.  Disrespecting the Flag, the National Anthem, tearing down historical monuments and re-naming landmarks doesn’t erase the deep wounds of injustice.  It fosters more division and hatred.

I wish you would just join me in my world.  You can find it wherever you live.  It begins with accepting the love of Jesus Christ… the love He has for you personally.  When you experience that love, your world and your view of the world will change.  As you change, the world around you will change too.

That, my friends, is the healing America needs.
