In the Longhorn world, cows are well known for their productivity and longevity. This cow’s productivity, however, has had a little help along the way. Dickinson Cattle Co. owns this cow, Winning Smile. Darol Dickinson explains her calving record… Two embryo flushes have helped increase the size of her family.

Editors Note: One reader accurately pointed out that the act of “raising” a calf could imply that the cow birthed it and milked it to age. A more technically correct way to describe this situation is that the cow “produced” 25 calves. A cow certainly needs some help to produce 25 calves at age ten. Regardless of how you say it, the message is that there are techniques available that allow the breeder to maximize the impact of an exceptional animal.
