Beef lovers might want to consider Longhorn Beef.
Please don’t think I am bashing “other” beef. I love a good steak… Angus, Hereford, you name it… I have raised them, and enjoyed every bite when it came time for grilling! I have good friends and family who raise horn-challenged varieties of cattle. I’ll eat and enjoy theirs any time.
BUT, if you are looking for the best healthy choice, you might want to consider Texas Longhorn Beef. A study from Texas A&M showed the superiority of Longhorn Beef when compared to “other” beef, pork, chicken… even Bison!
Recently, a less scientific study was done by a Longhorn Producer, Weston Hetland, who conducted his own research. The photo above shows ribeye steaks from two steers that were fed identical rations for 120 days. The one on the left is the Herford. The one on the right is the Longhorn. The difference is easy to see.
