I hesitate to criticize Christian leaders.
This isn’t intended to be critical of any individual leader, but hopeful that Christians will return to some of the basics of Christianity.
I am reminded of the Scripture from Romans 10:
“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?”
How shall they hear without a preacher? If preachers do not speak of sin and judgment… Heaven and Hell.. Christ, crucified and risen from the dead… who will tell them? The “gospel of grace” alone isn’t sufficient without the balance of the whole Gospel. Often ignored are the Scriptures that clearly state God hates the wicked, and judgment awaits those who reject Christ.
Grace? Yes, certainly! Grace alone? I believe you are skating on very thin ice. It would be a serious mistake to ignore or discount grace and mercy. Thank God for His Grace and Mercy! But if we celebrate those marvelous attributes and benefits, while ignoring sin, judgment and repentance we miss an essential part of the Gospel. Ravi Zacharias warns that an entire generation of “Christians” may not be prepared to handle the realities of life.
We are admonished to “work out our own salvation” with fear and trembling. You may certainly choose your own path… and the consequences thereof.
The Gospel “in part” isn’t the Gospel.
