That Leftist assertion is a big, fat lie.
If you were in the school during the last big shooting, your life was in the balance… while law enforcement stood by without doing anything to help. The New York Post reports the tragic truth:
“Sheriff’s Deputy Scot Peterson’s jaw-dropping decision not to enter Marjory Douglas Stoneman HS to face accused shooter Nikolas Cruz, and the three other Broward County cops’ reported similar refusal…”
At best, police arrive on the scene AFTER the killing. At worst, well… we’ve already seen that.
Leftists like to use phrases like “Kindergarten teachers shouldn’t carry guns”. Framing the issue with those words helps paint a picture that re-enforces their false narrative: that teachers prepared to defend themselves and children in their classroom actually puts the children in danger. That is an absolute falsehood. Leftists are expert at creating mental images lead uninformed people to a wrong conclusion.
The simple question Leftists don’t want to answer is this: When someone is intent on killing you and others, are you worse off if you have the ability to stop them? Stand (or hide under a desk) and wait for the next shots to be fired, or shoot the assailant?
If someone is trying to kill me and others, I want the ability to stop them. Period.
The colossal failure of multiple government agencies to protect these children and teachers only further demonstrates the need for trained, armed personnel in schools. Defenseless students, teachers and staff in ‘gun free zones’ are sitting ducks.
The suggestion that more “gun control” laws will solve the problem makes no more sense than “gun free zones”. Are you serious? Do you not comprehend that criminals intent on killing do not obey the law? If all guns are outlawed, they will buy, steal or make a weapon. Do you really believe a killer will stop when the see the sign declaring a “gun free zone”?
No one likes the picture of children being shot and killed by a deranged criminal. The only thing worse might be a picture of defenseless children lined up waiting to see who is killed next. Leftists who would deny teachers the right to defend their children and themselves are seriously misguided (I am being very kind here).
If you feel better being helpless and defenseless, that’s ok with me.
I will be prepared to shoot back.
