Not knowing can get you in a lot of trouble.
In the world of politics, not knowing the core values of a candidate can elect someone who will do things that are detrimental to the things you hold dear. Really knowing a candidate can be difficult, when all you get are programmed commercials designed to tickle your ears. Political debates in days past provided a forum that allowed candidates to expound on their thoughts, giving voters the opportunity to see more deeply what the candidates believed and what they proposed to do. Modern debates allow two minute ‘sound bite’ responses to questions… questions that are probably not about the most significant issues. You can dig deeper, but it takes dedication and effort. If you want to be an informed voter, you will need to do some homework. Not knowing has caused voters to be complicit in taking America a long way in the wrong direction, by electing candidates whose agenda is quite different than that of most Americans.
In the world of finances, not knowing can destroy companies and steal the resources of families. There was a time when having a business or home with no debt was a primary objective. Today, debt doesn’t bother people quite so much. The added burden of compounding interest makes it much more difficult for a business to succeed or a family to get ahead. J. Paul Getty understood this, and reversed the equation to his advantage. He referred to compound interest as the “eighth wonder of the world”.
Spiritually, not knowing what God says can be ETERNALLY bad for you. Not knowing what God requires of you is BAD for you. Not knowing God’s formula for success is harmful to you… in finances, relationships and life in general. Not knowing what God considers sinful can keep you in a state of delusion, living a life not pleasing or acceptable to God. Not knowing what God says about how His blessings are yours to claim can mean you live beneath your privilege. Not knowing God, and what He has to say to you leaves you wandering in the darkness. Not a good way to live.
Find your Bible. Read it. Ask to Holy Spirit to ‘guide you into all truth’. Ask God to take charge of your life.
Jesus is… The way, the truth and the life.
