The South Dakota Board of Regents just raised student tuition and fees.
It might seem inconsequential to some people. After all, it’s just a 3% increase. They want to “keep costs for students as low as possible”.
State Representative Elizabeth May reports some interesting statistics, in view of the rising costs…
Here’s just a sampling of the Executive salaries for the BOR.
1. Executive Director BOR:$378,813 + benefits
2. SDSU President: $376,891 + benefits and house
3. USD President:$376,891 + benefits
4. Dean of Faculty Affairs USD: $376,189 + benefits…
5. Chair, Family Medicine USD: $340,653
6.Chair, Surgery USD: $340,485 + benefits
7. Heads Men Basketball Coach: $325,00 + benefits
8. Heads Men Basketball Coach USD: $275,00 + benefits ($79,300 raise)
9. Director of Athletics SDSU: $260,000 + benefits ($20,00 raise)
10. Head football Coach USD: $255,000 + benefits (No raise must not be very good.
11.University Pres. Northern: $251,473 +benefits and house.
12.University Pres. Black Hills:$251,473 + benefits and house
13.University Pres. Dakota State: $255,00 + benefit and house.
14.Head Football coachSDSU: $240,00 + benefits
15. Head women Basketball Coach SDSU: $225,000 + benefits
16. The highest Executive Salary go to: Chief Health Professional Officer at USD: $577,650
Maybe some of these dedicated servants of higher education should consider taking a 3% pay cut, instead of raising student costs by 3%… to help “keep costs for students as low as possible”.
