House and Senate leaders in South Dakota want to keep their thumb on conservatives.

This latest dictate by the GOP establishment is another effort to keep their strangle-hold on the party machine.

All Republican Legislative candidates got a letter from the “Leaders” putting them on notice that they will be expelled from the Republican Caucus if they dare to belong to another caucus.

Anyone who follows national politics is familiar with the “Tea Party Caucus” and the “Freedom Caucus”.  Conservative members of Congress gather to discuss issues that are important to them and often find themselves in disagreement with Party Leadership.  Together, they have a real voice in shaping policy.

South Dakota Republican Leaders don’t like that idea.  Here are a couple excerpts from the GOP dictate:

The message is pretty clear… if you are a Conservative, you better sit down and shut up.  The “conservative” party… The Republican Party… in South Dakota has long had a policy of shutting down conservatives and promoting tax and spend liberals.

This newest move to silence conservatives won’t end well for the SD GOP.
