When We All Get To Heaven
Sing the wondrous love of Jesus
Sing his mercy and his grace
In the mansions bright and blessed…
He’ll prepare for us a place
When we all get to heaven
What a day of rejoicing that will be
When we all see Jesus
We’ll sing and shout the victory
This song was rattling around in my brain this morning. It’s a pleasant reminder of the joy and celebration that awaits us as we are reunited in glory for all eternity. I’m wondering if, amidst all the celebrating, there will be a moment when we pause and think; “Did my buddy ‘Joe’ make it here?”
You see, the Bible doesn’t say that “we will all get to heaven”. Romans 10:13 (KJV) says: “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” And Jesus said: “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” John 14:6 (NKJV) And Acts 4:12 (NKJV) says of Jesus Christ; “Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”
You might be thinking; “What’s up with this train of thought?” Well, I heard the news that a high school buddy of mine (who I don’t think I’ve seen for at least 50 years) passed away this week. As I have reminisced about some of the “good old days”, the thought does occur; “will I see ‘Joe’ (not his real name) in the ‘when we all get to heaven’ celebration?”
I never told “Joe” that Jesus loves him; I sure hope someone did……….. Maybe, as his friend, I should have made the effort; I sure hope someone did……….
