“As caravan approaches, Trump warns he’ll cut aid to Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador,” reports Fox News this morning. Immigrant hordes have no right to force themselves into any country.
The president should also begin taking steps to move California agriculture to Central America, where all the workers actually come from. The Dole Corporation has provided a compelling model. Let the handful of rich California owners shuttle back and forth as necessary, but keep the workers at home.
These field workers will always be at the top of their human potential if families can stay together back home without the baleful stigma of being second-class and despised elsewhere.
Besides, a case can be made that Central America is easily more of a paradise than California. Millions of tropics-seeking tourists can’t be that wrong. Steinbeck’s Joad family would agree.
It’s time to stop California Democrats from exploiting field workers from Central America, including Mexico. It’s getting harder to deny that Democratic Party kingpins encourage illegal immigration to steal elections and subsidize welfare industries. Let’s put an end to this form of political trafficking.
To help fight Central American drug cartels and local thugs, the CIA and military need less in terms of rules of engagement and acting as humanitarian ambassadors, and more of the strongman tactics that once brought prosperity and peace to many lawless and impotent nations. Trump supporter Rodrigo Duterte in the Philippines knows about this. So does emergent Brazilian politician Jair Bolsonaro, who remembers how good daily life was from 1964 to 1985.
Finally, the Dole model is just a reminder that the American consumer can have all the fresh fruits and vegetables that it now eats–and at much the same cost–thanks to enhanced transport technology and favorable sea-going routes within the hemisphere. Better yet and without cost, we can all give back to Central Americans the same “life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness” that should be their birthright too.
