Complete, absolute control.
The midterm elections gave South Dakota Republicans a near clean sweep. They control the State House, State Senate, Governors office and every other statewide office. Nothing new, really.
SO… what should we expect them to do with this super majority?
In the Republican Party Platform, they tell us what they stand for and believe in. That should make it easy to determine how they will govern.
LOWER TAXES… For the past 16 years (under Republican leadership) taxes have been raised by hundreds of millions of dollars per year. Will the new Republican team be true to their platform and REDUCE taxes?
SANCTITY OF LIFE… Despite Republican leadership in the last 16 years, unborn children are still killed every week in South Dakota. Will the new Republican team change that?
MARRIAGE… One man with one woman. Will the new Republican team defend and strengthen traditional marriage?
TENTH AMENDMENT… “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.” Will the new Republican team defend South Dakota State Sovereignty?
FAITH AND THE BIBLE…Quoting the Platform, “We support the teaching of… …the historical role of faith and the Bible.” Will the new Republican team lead the way on this important issue?
SOCIALIZED MEDICINE… The past 16 years of Republican leadership has embraced and implemented significant parts of ObamaCare. Will the new Republican team reverse those actions?
LIMITED GOVERNMENT… The State budget has grown BILLIONS of dollars during the last 16 years of Republican leadership. Will the new Republican team shrink the size and cost of state government?
They will… if they are true to their own Platform.
