Political correctness would like to erase history.
Destroying historical works of art because they are “offensive” is a dangerous path to go down. There isn’t any doubt that American history includes things of which we are not proud. Mistakes have been made and even atrocities committed. Still, the Divine genius of our form of government has righted many, many wrongs.
I choose to celebrate the righteousness of our Nation. We don’t excuse our transgressions. Neither should we hide them. It is much better to openly acknowledge errors of the past. Having done so, we should move on with gratitude for the magnificent achievements.
There have been times when I have been unhappy with political leaders who haven’t risen to the high standards set by our Founding Fathers. Even then, through good and bad, I am thankful to be an American, and blessed to live in a country so wonderful.
I am proud of our flag, and what it stands for.
