Cheat, steal and lie.
One might wonder if China has been taking lessons from some American politicians.
Seriously, everyone knows that China has been cheating, stealing and lying for decades. The only thing that has changed is the person in the White House. Donald Trump is the only President in my lifetime who has held China accountable for her misbehavior.
Now the “experts” are becoming more vocal in their opposition to the Trump Administration’s hard line with China. These “experts” have remained silent for years. Now that something is actually being done to challenge China, they are quick to proclaim that the direction is all wrong. There aren’t any solid suggestions on how better to deal with them, just that we shouldn’t be so “aggressive”.
The media is happy to give air time to anyone willing to trash Donald Trump or his trade policies (or any policy for that matter).
The problem these naysayers are unwilling to deal with is that, left unchecked, China will continue to drain American resources, steal intellectual property and gain world military dominance. None of that is acceptable. Trump is not going to stand by and do nothing about it.
No pain, no gain… That old saying might apply to this situation. Other Presidents have been faint of heart, worried about what the pain might do to their poll numbers. Enter Donald Trump. He doesn’t worry about that. He asserts that he doesn’t “worry” about anything. That’s refreshing. He is willing to endure the criticism in order to accomplish a long term greater result.
Playing hard ball with China is the right course of action.
