Janette McIntyre writes about the bullying tactics of those wanting to impose yet another tax increase in the name of “funding education”. This is her article:

“NO! NO! NO!

Well the signs came down. Good job Rapid City. Another bullying tactic by some of Rapid City’s finest.

Do the YES backers think that their campaign is so fragile that they can’t withstand a few NO signs? Maybe so.

Corner Pantry and MG Oil were targeted for having the gall to place an opposing sign up. This includes the barrage of calls from not only individuals but businesses as well that threatened future business or lack of if the NO signs don’t come down.

Tammy Schnitgrund, Stevens High School orchestra teacher, in a Facebook post including a picture of their business chastised them and said that they could afford to build her a classroom.

Top that with School Board Member Amy Policky telling someone a sign needs to come down because the size of the disclaimer as to who paid for it is too small. The size was “just right” Ms Policky. I believe that there is a law (SDCL 12:27:20) that you, as an elected official, are not allowed to engage in electioneering.

Call it intimidation or bullying, that sign is still up and will remain up until someone in the dark of night steals it. But who cares? Like all who break the law there will be those standing behind you who think that your actions are just fine. Maybe Ms. Policky should be contacted and Big D could also afford to build Ms Schnitgrund a classroom. Worth asking I suppose.

The ends justify the means I guess.

The election is only a couple weeks away. Getting a 60% win is not a slam-dunk in Rapid City when it comes to raising people’s taxes. It appears that intimidation by any means necessary is how they will attempt in the final stretch to reach that bar.”
