My friend and staunch conservative, Tonchi Weaver, made this suggestion in response to the Mayor and City Council of Rapid City, South Dakota shutting down businesses, and further extending the shutdown. THANK YOU TONCHI, for being a voice of reason in an atmosphere of fear and confusion! These were her comments in full…
” Stalag Rapid City update: Our Mayor is “…working with Monument Health to come up with a plan to reopen the businesses impacted. When the time is right, whether that be by political will, or medical advice, that discussion will occur…” Why does a non-profit (another word for tax-exempt) entity get to decide when your business can re-open? Where is the evidence that the hospital is being overrun with C-19 cases? The Emergency Room was vacant and all Urgent Care facilities in town had maybe one or two visitors on Sunday. Yesterday’s numbers showed no new cases West River; why are we acting as though people were dying in the streets? Mayor Allender admitted that he had gone to two businesses over the weekend and shamed others for going there. “The mayor praised businesses who are taking the appropriate steps to limit the amount of people into their stores and enforcing social distancing.” Bulletin: the businesses you closed down were practicing those precautions before you shut them down; where was your praise for them? Free enterprise is, after all, a voluntary arrangement. Two more weeks and many will not re-open. Mr. Mayor and every City Councilman who voted for this tyranny, relinquish your pay for the same time period .”
Thankfully, our President is aware that closing businesses is BAD for America, and that “the cure can not be worse than the problem”. While he is focused on getting the country back to work (as well as working to solve the problem), the Leftists and their media reward him with continued attacks and “investigations”. Much to their dismay, President Trump is leading us through this challenging time toward yet another victory.
To those whose only answer is to “shut down” businesses and hold us hostage to fear, Tonchi Weaver has a wonderful suggestion.
No more paychecks to city, county, state or national elected officials until America is back to work!
