Glenn Beck is right. It’s a fight to the death: the GOP RINO leadership versus the tea party and conservative activists. The outcome is by no means certain yet but conservatives need to have a Plan A and a Plan B.
Plan A: The GOP nominates a true conservative. The only two of the announced candidates are Michele Bachmann and Herman Cain. If Sarah Palin decides to enter the race, she would be a third true conservative.
Neither of the front runners, Rick Perry nor Mitt Romney have the conservative record to backup their claim to be true conservatives. Both are courting tea party support but neither can make a solid case based on their records thus far. Neither would be more palatable for conservatives with a tea party running mate. Neither can truly claim broad-based support from the tea party or conservative activists or indeed from the GOP in general.
More candidates may step forward soon, especially in light of the extreme weakness of Obama in polls and within his own party.
But let’s assume that one of the RINO’s secures the GOP nomination. What can the tea party conservative activists do?
Let’s rule out just staying home altogether. Let’s also rule out holding our noses and supporting the RINO. The stakes are just way too high. Conservatives are not only in a battle for the soul of the GOP but also the political and economic soul of our nation.
So…..
Plan B, Version 1.1: Focus ALL the tea party conservative grassroots resources on capturing conservative control of the Senate and capturing conservative control of the House. GOP control is not enough. The GOP currently controls the majority in the House, but obviously conservatives do not.
This will mean weeding out the RINO’s from the House. Some will even be freshmen who voted RINO even though they campaigned on tea party issues and were elected largely with tea party support.
Plan B, Version 1.2: A split-focus of the tea party conservative grassroots resources on capturing conservative control of the Senate and capturing conservative control of the House AND create a third party (call it anything but the Tea Party) and draft Sarah Palin, Jim DeMint or another verifiable conservative to run for president.
This will likely assure the re-election of Barack Obama but if significant conservative control of both the Senate and the House are secured, his agenda will be halted.
Neither version of Plan B is desirable but continued support and acceptance of RINO’s is unacceptable.
