Despite losing in every state where marriage amendments have been on the ballot, the Democrat Party appears ready to continue its opposition.
In answer to a question from the “gay” newspaper the Washington Blade, Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL), who also chairs the Democratic National Committee (DNC), said that she would at least consider requests from state parties for financial assistance in attempting to defeat state constitutional amendments to define marriage as the union of one man and one woman.
Minnesota and North Carolina are already scheduled to have marriage amendments on the ballot next year, and other states are considering them.
A DNC investment would likely be unproductive since every single state where marriage has been on the ballot (31 so far) has ended up affirming its natural definition as the union of a man and a woman.
Wasserman Schultz believes that every state Democratic Party will combat any such proposed amendment.
But the Democratic Party in North Carolina has already effectively thrown supporters of homosexual “marriage” under the bus. Fearful that their jobs would be jeopardized by a large turnout of conservative voters in November to support the marriage amendment, Democrats in the legislature insisted it go on the ballot in May instead–when the only other thing on the ballot is the Republican presidential primary.
Good political savvy there, eh?
