Ron Paul, Statesman, Libertarian, Third Party Candidate?

Through the debates and the rigors of the quest for the Republican presidential nomination, Congressman Ron Paul (R-TX) has demonstrated his level-headed statesmanship and his steadfast support for libertarian principles of Constitutional limited government. Is he the third-party candidate that Tea Partiers and conservative activists will turn to in 2012?

His appeal emanates from his steady support of Constitutional principles……and he’s been doing that for some 40 years.

At a time when the Occupy Movement is demanding free college tuition and forgiveness of student loans as a “right,” Congressman Paul reminds us that there is no Constitutional authority for the government providing the cost of education or even furnishing loans to individuals, such as students.

The 2010 election’s mandate to lawmakers was to cut government spending. Congressman Paul outlined his plan to cut $1 trillion from the federal budget in one year and if you examine the details of the plan, it is really pretty simple — get the federal government out of the business of doing all the unconstitutional things it is now doing.

With the likelihood that the Republican establishment will fight hard to nominate Mitt Romney or some other milk-toast, “big tent” RINO for president, true conservatives will have to decide whether to stay home on Election Day or get behind a third party candidate.

If the decision is to support freedom and liberty above compromise and further deterioration of our republic, we will have to choose a solid Constitutional candidate. A few names leap forward, and one of them is Ron Paul.

I have to admit, I share in your desire to see a strong constitutional candidate come forward. Ron Paul is one of the few refreshing voices in politics because he embraces liberty when it is beneficial to his cause AND when it is not.

He is an upstanding candidate who simply lets his yes be yes and his no be no.

Yes, yes, run that third-party challenge. I’d love to hear Ron Paul at the debates in October alongside Obama and Romney. He would offer some unique ideas and provoke useful conversations. He would also ensure four more years of President Obama.
