Kirk Cameron, already a Hollywood star, earned a Godly star on the “Today” show yesterday.
During the interview with the “Today” show’s Ann Curry, the liberal host suggested that Cameron’s staunch defense of traditional values “might encourage people to… mistreat people.” The unshakeable Cameron politely disagreed, saying, “Nobody should mistreat anyone.”
Cameron’s courageous role as a spokesman for traditional values has earned him ridicule and open criticism from Hollywood liberals and politicians alike. But he has given no quarter to his detractors.
I remember no such criticism or accusations of hate speech when Barack Obama when he said marriage is between a man and woman during his campaign. Of course not.
Ann Curry’s questioning only exposed the media’s bias on the subject. These days, if you simply disagree with homosexuals, people like Curry make the leap that you’re encouraging abuse. Kirk said this whole controversy is a manufactured one.
“I have been consistent for 15 years as a Christian. I’m a Bible-believing Christian. What I would have thought was more newsworthy is if I had said something that contradicted the Word of God, if I had contradicted my faith.”
At every turn, Kirk Cameron has outclassed his detractors, who seem laser-focused on bringing him down. Ironically, they’ve probably done more harm to their cause than good by raising the profile of an articulate, courageous Christian, whose thoughtful answers spoke truth in the debate.
Thank you, Kirk Cameron for standing firm in your faith.
